Real Madrid have loaned Brahim Diaz to AC Milan for a year, but Zinedine Zidane made sure there was no chance of the deal being permanent.

When rumors of Real Madrid potentially loaning Brahim Diaz to AC Milan first surfaced, Madridistas were nervous that Los Blancos would include an option to buy in the deal. We had seen situations earlier this summer where clubs tried to insert this clause into a loan deal. Takefusa Kubo tried with Sevilla, and they were ultimately unsuccessful.

Milan did the same with Brahim, but Real Madrid wisely withheld any option to buy from the resurgent Rossoneri. Real already gave star left back Theo Hernandez to the Serie A club at a relative discount, so doing the same with Brahim, who would be even more valuable to Los Blancos in the future, would have been a disaster.

According to a report from Sergio Santos Chozas of AS, Madridistas can thank manager Zinedine Zidane for being adamant that the club could not include an option to buy in Brahim’s loan deal with Milan.

Zinedine Zidane ‘loves’ Brahim Diaz

Per the report, Zidane “loves” Brahim, which matches everything we’ve heard about what the French manager thinks about the young, two-footed forward. Zidane simply wants Brahim to get valuable playing time elsewhere for a year, as Brahim has resisted loan moves for multiple transfer windows before.

Brahim could be a big star for Milan in 2020-2021, so this could prove to be an ideal loan move. Once Brahim returns from Serie A, he could have a spot in the wide forward rotation, as his ability to score goals from the right side makes him a real asset.

The Spanish international’s hard work has impressed Zidane over the past season. Brahim never once complained about his playing time and gave it his all, even scoring a great goal in the Copa del Rey. Hopefully, his loan spell at Milan is fruitful, and he can return to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2020-2021 with Zidane having a role ready for him.
