Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic most likely won’t head anywhere this summer, but that isn’t stopping one club from trying.

Although Luka Jovic didn’t get settled into life at Real Madrid in his first season with the club, everyone around Europe knows that the young Serbian international has what it takes to be one of the best No. 9’s in the world.

Real Madrid purchased Jovic for 60 million euros from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reason. He was an absolute star in the Bundesliga in the 2018-2019 season, leading the line for the Eagles and scoring some spectacular goals. Jovic was even more impressive in the Europa League, standing out as one of the competition’s top forwards.

Jovic should be behind Karim Benzema at striker next season, but hopefully he’ll get more playing time in 2020-2021. But because he played so little last season, teams around the continent have been monitoring Jovic for a possible transfer. His name has come up frequently.

No team has been linked to Jovic more than AC Milan, and while it seemed like their interest cooled, the Rossoneri are stlll interested in a loan move.

Real Madrid need Luka Jovic behind Karim Benzema

La Repubblica reports, via AS, that Milan and Jovic’s agent Fali Ramadani are actually “ironing out” the terms of a potential loan deal.

That means if Real Madrid decided before the season started that Luka Jovic wasn’t an essential part of the rotation, then they would be open to Jovic heading out on loan in order to get playing time and a change in scenery. And if that happened, Jovic could very well join current teammate Brahim Diaz and former teammate Ante Rebic at the San Siro.

Milan’s continued interest in the 22-year-old striker is unsurprising, since they have huge ambitions and Jovic could light up Serie A. But Real Madrid need Jovic as their top backup to Benzema. Mariano Diaz has been difficult to sell or loan, but he’s their priority to let go this summer – not Jovic.
