Real Madrid: 5 predictions for the 2020-2021 season
Luka Modrić: The last dance.
A club legend and fan favourite, Luka Modrić will be celebrating his 35th birthday on the 9th of September this year. Having won everything there is to win on a personal level and club level, Modrić has already had a career for the books and definitely wants to keep up his pace until he can’t.
Although his form is still at an all-time high since last season, considering his age, Luka Modrić is still doing wonders! But the question is how long before the show ends? The same thought has been the topic of discussion between the club and Modrić’s representatives.
The Croatian considers Madrid his home and has often mentioned that he wants to retire at the Bernabéu, with the club president Florentino Pérez supporting his statement. With his current contract ending in June 2021, Modrić seems relaxed about his renewal at the club as he plans to earn it on the field, but the club is hesitant for long extensions for players above the age of 30.
As the new season approaches, the 34-year-old is also nearing his retirement, although there are no signs of any sort of decline in the Croatian’s form, the age factor is on every Madridista’s mind and this upcoming season is believed to be the last time we see Luka Modrić in his prime.
