The 2020-2021 La Liga season has already begun, but Real Madrid’s opener will come on Matchday 2 against Real Sociedad.

Last season, Real Madrid and Real Sociedad had some absolutely thrilling encounters. After Real took the first game of the 2019-2020 La Liga season 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu behind a scintillating performance from superstar Eden Hazard, they were bounced out of the Copa del Rey by Martin Odegaard and La Real. They got their revenge in the summer with a narrow 2-1 victory at the Anoeta Stadium on the road to a 34th La Liga title.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, Real Madrid will also make the trip to the Anoeta Stadium to face La Real. Except this time, they will have Odegaard in the squad. Odegaard was Sociedad’s best player in 2019-2020 and led the team to the Europa League, but the club still has plent of dangerous players to keep a close eye on.

Here are five of them.

AM David Silva

David Silva could make his season debut for Real Sociedad on Matchday 2 against Real Madrid. The man has experience in La Liga, having starred for Valencia before becoming a legend at Manchester City as one of the first big stars of the project.

Although he is now 34, David Silva is still one of the best creative midfielders in the world. He had six goals and 10 assists for City in 2019-2020, recording the same number of goals and more assists in the Premier League than in 2018-2019 despite playing about 500 fewer minutes.

If he plays on Sunday, Real Madrid’s Casemiro will be on high alert.
