6. Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad started last season brilliantly and put themselves in contention for the top four. However, they could not keep the same momentum after the pandemic break and finished sixth. They lost Martin Odegaard, as he heads back to Real Madrid, but did well to replace him with David Silva. They will once again knock on the door for the top four but might have to settle for the Europa League spot once again.

5. Atletico Madrid

Diego Simone’s team struggled to make an impact last season. They finished 3rd overall but lacked the cutting edge. Atletico’s two main problems last season was game management and scoring goals. In the attacking side, if they do not add goal scorers, it is going to be another difficult season for them. They might even drop out of the Champions League spot.

4. Villareal

Villareal had a great run in towards the end of the season and finished in fifth last season. They have done an excellent job during the transfer window by adding Takefusa Kubo, Francis Coquelin, and Dani Parejo. They drew 1-1 against newly-promoted Huesca, but they are an exciting team to watch and will most likely fight for the top four.

3. Sevilla

Sevilla looks organized and solid under Julien Lopetegui. They finished fourth last season and seems primed to do better this season. The momentum from winning the Europa League will be vital for their success in the League this season. They lost Ever Banega but added the likes of Suso, Oscar Rodriguez, and Ivan Rakitic.

2. Barcelona

Barcelona is in a state of turmoil. Following a humiliating 8-2 exit against Bayern Munich, their greatest ever player, Lionel Messi, wanted to leave this summer, but the board refused to let him go. The positive out of all this is that they still have their greatest ever player. While the Catalan club might not be at their best in the coming season, they are still a force to be reckoned.

1. Real Madrid
Real Madrid has the momentum going into the new season. They came back from the pandemic break and won 10 in a row to secure their 34th La Liga title. Now, with the addition of Martin Odegaard and the potential injury-free season from Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard will only make them stronger.
