Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos sets the tone as a leader on and off the pitch, and he’s made Los Blancos’ 2020-2021 goal crystal clear.

Last season, Real Madrid returned to prominence in La Liga under Zinedine Zidane, winning their 34th title behind a steely defense, rebounded midfield, and Karim Benzema’s contributions in the attack. They underestimated Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey and were eliminated after stating their second-team defense. And they were bounced out of the Champions League knockout stages in the first round by Manchester City.

But by winning La Liga, Real Madrid ensured their 2019-2020 season was a successful one. After being unable to sign any players, Real know they won’t have it easy in 2020-2021, but they aren’t prepared to take their foot off the gas for an instant.

According to MARCA, captain Sergio Ramos made it clear that Los Blancos aim to win all the trophies in 2020-2021. Last year, they won La Liga and the Spanish Supercup. This year, they want the Champions League and Copa del Rey, too.

Ramos said,

"“Real Madrid aspire to [win] every trophy and we’re going to try to start in the best way possible to send a message to the world of what we want to do this season.”The objective is to aspire to [win] every trophy. We have to go little by little, step by step, game by game, but we aspire to win everything and so we have to start well, with good intensity and a good rhythm so the season doesn’t seem as long.”"

A highly ambitious, but not impossible, goal for Real Madrid

That’s an ambitious goal to set for the club, but it’s one that Real are capable of fulfilling. Even without any new signings, they will have Martin Odegaard, who joins the team after being a major breakout star for Real Sociedad during his one-year loan spell. Rodrygo Goes, Fede Valverde, and Vinicius Junior are only getting better as fellow young stars with key roles to play.

So Real have the experienced players like Ramos, Benzema, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, and more. They have an elite defense. Their midfield can control games. And they are a third-year breakout from Vinicius or a second-year breakout from Rodrygo from potentially excelling in attack. A fully healthy Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio would be like the cliche “new signings”.
