Real Madrid may miss one of their most consistent players on Wednesday at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano when they take on Real Valladolid.

Although Real Madrid were tested in both of their first two games of the 2020-2021 La Liga season, Zinedine Zidane should be satisfied with the fight his team showed in picking up four points from matches at the Anoeta Stadium and the Benito Villamarin.

On Wednesday, Los Blancos will have their first home game of the season on short rest, as they will take on Real Valladolid. While Marcelo could be in the lineup after missing the squad at Real Betis due to a back issue, another star player could be out due to injury.

According to a report from Mario Cortegana of AS, Real Madrid star center midfielder Toni Kroos is in doubt for the Valladolid match after picking up a hip injury against Betis.

Kroos was substituted late in the first half for Luka Modric due to the injury. Real Madrid went on to win the game 3-2, as Modric and Isco helped turn the tide in the second half as substitutes.

Real Madrid CM Toni Kroos suffered an injury against Real Betis

On Matchday 2, Kroos started against Real Sociedad and delivered yet another masterclass, bossing the midfield with his passing and working hard to recover the ball against Sociedad. He’d be missed against Valladolid, but Los Blancos have enough talent in midfield with Martin Odegaard now in the squad that they should be able to make it work.

Hopefully, Kroos’ hip injury isn’t serious and he’ll be back in the lineup for the weekend’s match at Levante. Zinedine Zidane has, in general, wisely played it safe with injuries, especially to key veteran starters. Kroos is one of the most important players in the team, so Real Madrid should not take any chances with this mid-week game.

It is unclear the nature of Kroos’ injury, as it could be a muscular issue. AS reports that Kroos will undergo more testing on Monday, which will shed more light on the German international’s status against Real Valladolid.
