Real Madrid: Age is just a number for Luka Modric

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is aging like a fine wine. New-season we witness the same old magic from the Croatian wizard.

The Croatian midfielder Luka Modric who turned 35 this September is still dropping stunning performances whenever he is called up for Real Madrid. Whenever Modric plays it still feels like a 25-year-old is playing on the pitch, he puts all his energy into the game. The Croatian still manages to impress Zidane and fans want to see more of him.

After the astonishing World Cup performance, Modric went out of the track under a couple of new management team. The Croatian faced a lot of criticism in that year, and it is quite obvious as he was the Ballon d’Or winner in 2018. With all these situations Modric still managed to get back on track and showed the same passion on the pitch again.

Last season Real Madrid found a gem, Fede Valverde who started ahead of Modric most of the time, and fans loved the Uruguayan. But Modric didn’t give up, he played an important role for Real Madrid in the La Liga season after the season resumed in June. His contributions and energetic performances helped Los Blancos for clinching the 34th League title.

Modric is consistent and still worthy

In recent clashes against La Real and Betis, Modric played and yet again delivered an astonishing performance and showed why he needs to be a starter. But for Zidane, it’s not possible to give full minutes to a particular midfielder as he has a huge depth in midfield. All these years Modric has been consistent and we have to appreciate his consistency in Madrid.

Modric helps Madrid in many ways, he covers the whole pitch, helps the backline and frontline in attacking phases. This season, I feel he will play ahead of others as this might be his last season. Modric deserves to play every minute of the game for all the enthusiasm he shows on the pitch. Even at this age, he proves that he is one of the best midfielders.

Zidane knows the abilities of Modric With a long season ahead he can use Modric in all important and huge clashes. Modric has numerous experiences in huge clashes and if it’s his last with Real Madrid then he must be aiming to win everything. If Modric continues to play in the same manner it would help the Los Blancos to clinch the maximum amount of silverware.

At the age of 35, all great players retire or play outside Europe and here we have Luka Modric playing at Spanish top flight. Personally, I don’t want Modric to leave Real Madrid and play here for numerous years. Whenever he plays, he shows all the signs of a Balon d’Or winner and answers all his critics. Modric will go down in the list of one of the best midfielders in Real Madrid’s history.
