When will we see Eder Militao start for Real Madrid?

Real Madrid center back Eder Militao put in an impressive performance against Real Valladolid earlier this year alongside Raphael Varane, succeeding in a tough road environment. Militao then passed even bigger tests against Inaki Williams and Athletic Bilbao, as well as Manchester City in the Champions League despite his team’s poor performance overall.

Even as Real eye young center backs like Dayot Upamecano, Benoit Badiashile, and Jules Kounde, Los Blancos surely recognize that Militao is a part of the future. They paid 50 million euros to sign him from FC Porto during their “Revolution” summer in 2019, and he’s only getting better and better with each passing performance.

A start against Valladolid to give Sergio Ramos or Varane some extra rest is a possibility, though it is rare to see either player rested. They are so important to Los Blancos and playing so well right now that it’s hard to make space for anyone else. It’s the same issue for the strikers behind 2019-2020 MVP Karim Benzema.

But Militao should get his chance soon, whether it is against Real Valladolid or Levante. After a great first season as the third center back, Militao is ready for a few more opportunities. His composure and quick-thinking have been wonderful to watch. Playing center back for Los Blancos is not easy at all.
