Real Madrid are set to send striker Borja Mayoral to AS Roma this Fall, but how much money could they make off the deal?

Borja Mayoral has received interest from a handful of quality clubs around Europe during this “summer” transfer window, and Real Madrid are nearing an agreement with AS Roma in Serie A.

Roma are set to acquire the young striker on a loan deal with an option to buy, rather than a permanent transfer. While Mayoral has impressed Zinedine Zidane and even made a decent appearance off the bench in a 3-2 win over Real Betis, it’s very likely he will make a permanent move ahead of the 2021-2022 season.

According to a report from MARCA’s Miguel Angel Lara, Roma feel “optimistic” about signing Borja Mayoral on a loan deal. Per MARCA, Roma have offered Real Madrid three million euros from the loan, and the agreement would include a nine million euro option to buy.

Roma may have to offer Real Madrid more for Borja Mayoral

That’s a rather low offer from Roma of nine million euros, as Mayoral is 23 and is coming off a quality season for Levante on loan with eight goals and two assists. Based on his work rate and continued improvement, he could be an asset for Roma, who are in need of a young striker. Real could potentially get more out of Mayoral than 12 million, since the deal is only an option to buy.

As long as Mayoral continues to progress, work hard, and find the back of the net, he should earn himself a permanent move from Real Madrid to Roma at the end of the loan deal, assuming the two sides come to an agreement.

For Los Blancos, a Mayoral transfer is all about making a little bit of money during a tough year financially in order to save up every penny for some big transfers in 2021. Mayoral is a decent player, but he was never going to be a part of the future for Real. It’s best to loan/sell him and hope he latches on and succeeds somewhere else. Serie A could be a good fit for him.
