Real Madrid want to sign Esther Gonzalez from Levante
Real Madrid Femenino are looking for goals in the 2020-2021 season, and they are reportedly focusing on Levante striker Esther Gonzalez.
It has been a summer of changes, as Real Madrid Femenino prepare for their first season as the club’s official women’s team. Thanks to the contributions of new star players like Kosovare Asllani, Chioma Ubogagu, and Sofia Jakobsson, Las Blancas, as CD Tacon, stayed afloat in the Primera Division in 2019-2020.
Next season, though, the expectations will be higher, as Real Madrid would like to get closer to Champions League qualification.
In order to do that, Las Blancas have signed nine players this summer, including stars like Kenti Robles and Spanish national team defender Marta Corredera.
Now, according to a report from MARCA’s David Menayo, Real Madrid Femenino would like to sign Levante striker Esther Gonzalez, who is said to be a favorite of manager David Aznar. The long-time Tacon manager has asked for Real to sign Gonzalez.
Esther Gonzalez would bring goal-scoring prowess to Real Madrid Femenino
The 27-year-old joined Levante in 2019 after a successful spell with rivals Atletico Madrid, scoring 26 goals in 54 games for Las Rojiblancas. She made five appearances for the Spanish national team, too, after impressing for her club.
Gonzalez also had an earlier spell with Levante, then left to Sporting Huelva where she scored 15 goals in 27 matches.
Based on her statistics, you can see that Gonzalez is an accomplished, experienced goal-scorer in Spain’s top flight. Per MARCA, that’s why Real Madrid’s manager is so interested in her. The club wants more goal-scoring power for the 2020-2021 season, as they see Asllani, Ubogagu, and Jakobsson as players who can support a top scorer.
