Real Madrid juggling Marco Asensio, Martin Odegaard, and Isco

Real Madrid have three players who are capable of playing as attacking midfielders or right wingers in Isco, Marco Asensio, and the newest addition to the first team, Martin Odegaard. With Asensio and Isco recovering from injuries, Odegaard earned the start against Real Sociedad and played well against his old team.

On Matchday 3, Isco stole the show with his performance off the bench at the Benito Villamarin, sparking the comeback for a 3-2 win against Manuel Pellegrini’s side. A few days later at home against Real Valladolid, Marco Asensio played the hero with five dribbles completed off the bench, per WhoScored.com, starting the move for Vinicius Junior’s winner with his dribbling.

Zinedine Zidane will need to rotate these three players and mix-and-match depending on the formation. My guess is that Real Madrid will play their usual 4-3-3 at Levante with Asensio starting on the right due to the goal threat he provides.

But in a 4-4-2, Isco and Odegaard are favored. Since Luka Jovic is getting a run of games as a starter and impressed on Wednesday, there’s a possibility we see that setup again. In which case, I would foresee Odegaard getting the start for the Royal Whites.

Whatever the case, Los Blancos have a lot of talent among these three players. It should be an exciting season for all of them.
