Real Madrid will face Cadiz at home on Saturday evening. Here are three players who could be the Man of the Match.

After the international break comes to a close, Real Madrid will prepare for La Liga’s Matchday 6 clash against newly-promoted Cadiz on Saturday, Oct. 17. The match will be Real’s second home fixture of the 2020-2021 season, as the undefeated Royal Whites will be the clear favorites.

So here are three players who could be named Man of the Match for Los Blancos on Saturday evening at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

Real Madrid CF Karim Benzema

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is as good of a bet as anyone to be the best player on the pitch this weekend. The world-class forward got on the scoresheet for the first time this season last Sunday against Levante, scoring a late goal to put away the Frogs 2-0.

Benzema’s start to the season hasn’t been ideal, but there is no reason to panic. The No. 9 has been in slumps before, and he always comes out of them looking even stronger. Refer back to his poor spell in the early spring before charging back this summer to help Real Madrid win their 34th league title.

A brace on Matchday 6 is entirely possible for the former Lyon star.

Real Madrid CM Luka Modric

Another key veteran player for Real Madrid, Luka Modric seems to be getting better with age, if anything. After a poor 2018-2019 season, Modric has resumed being one of the best midfielders in Europe, commanding games and really stepping up his performances for the club in the year 2020. The Croatian midfielder has been arguably the team’s best outfield player to start the 2020-2021 campaign.

Modric, per WhoScored.com, is completing 89.6 percent of his passes this season with 1.3 tackles per game and 1.3 interceptions per game. He also has a staggering 2.5 key passes per game and 2.5 dribbles completed per game, showing his command of the pitch offensively.

One of the best all-around midfielders in world football, Modric should be locked in as a starter for Los Blancos this Saturday. Cadiz won’t be able to do anything to stop the Croatian legend, who is in his element right now.

Real Madrid RW Marco Asensio

It’s hard to predict the starters in the attack for Real Madrid, because Zinedine Zidane has so many combinations at his disposal, especially with all the young talented players like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, and now Martin Odegaard in the squad.

But Marco Asensio has shown his value to Los Blancos since returning from an ACL tear this summer, scoring with a magical first touch of the ball against Valencia. Asensio has played well since returning from an early-season injury this campaign, too, making a huge difference off the bench in a win over Real Valladolid.

Asensio could be a difference-maker against Cadiz if the game is close. His chance-creation and goal-scoring make him an ideal starter for Real Madrid. There isn’t a better option on that right-hand side, with all due respect to Rodrygo and even Odegaard.
