Real Madrid aim to come back with a bang.

Real Madrid prepare to make their way back to familiar but yet slightly unfamiliar territory. After the break in play due to the pandemic last season, Real Madrid did not have to deal with playing in two competitions in the same week when they resumed the season. However, in an attempt to slowly gear towards normalcy, Los Blancos prepare to take on Cadiz on Saturday before playing their opening game of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper

Even though he couldn’t stay with the Belgian national team due to a minor injury, Thibaut Courtois will be expected to start this game after recovering. The goalkeeper has continued his sensational form since the beginning of the season and could directly be given credit for the team being unbeaten so far in La Liga. With a packed few weeks coming up in the calendar, Courtois will need to be at his absolute best.

Defenders

With Dani Carvajal not recovering anytime and Alvaro Odriozola still not fully fit, it seems as though Nacho Fernandez will take his place at right-back for the second consecutive game. He did well the last time but lack of sharpness and in general a dip in form were very evident on the Spaniard.

Raphael Varane will continue taking his place in central defense alongside Sergio Ramos as they continue their impressive partnership. On the left, Ferland Mendy may start again as we could see him swapped with Marcelo in midweek.

Can we expect a midfield pairing of Kroos and Odegaard for Real Madrid?

Midfielders

Any arguments about Carlos Casemiro starting? Yeah, probably not. It looks like the Brazilian midfielder will never get a rest as he established himself as a vital piece of Real Madrid as well as the Brazilian National Team.

Toni Kroos has returned from injury and is expected to start the game after making his 100th appearance for Germany. He’ll most probably be next to Martin Odegaard this time around as I expect Zinedine Zidane to put the Norweigan back into the starting lineup while resting Luka Modric and Fede Valverde.

Forwards

With Zidane expected to go with his more trusted 4-3-3 formation, we could see Marco Asensio take his place on the right flank and it looks like it’s his place to lose under the French manager. On the left, Vinicius Junior has been in higher form recently and more games under his belt is exactly what he requires.

Karim Benzema is predicted to start the match as usual after scoring his first goal of the campaign in the last match and with the recent revelations from Borja Mayoral regarding Luka Jovic, it’s hard to see how things will progress between the Serbian striker and the club.
