Real Madrid attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard will miss the upcoming matches, including El Clasico, with an injury. These three players must step up.

Martin Odegaard can transform the Real Madrid midfield and attack with his work rate and quality in the final third. Madridistas have yet to see Odegaard’s best in a White kit, but it has only been five Matchdays. Furthermore, the Norway international shined during the international break, setting up his teammate Erling Haaland – a Madrid transfer target in 2022 – with a pair of assists against Romania.

Unfortunately, Odegaard also suffered an injury during the break. He has a right soleus muscle and will miss the upcoming fixtures, including El Clasico on Oct. 24.

Here are three players who must step up with Odegaard out.

Real Madrid AM Isco

Another attacking midfielder, Isco showed his quality as a half-time substitute against Real Betis a couple of weeks ago. Isco led the comeback at the Benito Villamarin, just as he did at El Sadar earlier this year in Pamplona.

A skilled playmaker who can also play centrally or on the right like Odegaard, Isco has returned to being a key player in the squad under Zinedine Zidane, who favors the player. Isco’s performances will be tracked closely this season, as teams may be interested in transferring for him next summer if Real Madrid listen to offers.
