Real Madrid RW Marco Asensio

Another attacking midfielder, Marco Asensio has made the right winger position at Real Madrid his home. Asensio first made an impact this season off the bench against Real Valladolid, as his dribbling created the game-winning goal for Vinicius Junior, shortly after the two men were subbed into the match by Zinedine Zidane.

Since Martin Odegaard’s chance-creation and movement are his biggest assets, Asensio will need to be at his “A” game without Odegaard available as a line-breaking, disruptive option for the French manager.

Asensio is a difference-maker for Real Madrid. The Spanish international has been exceptional so far in 2020-2021 since recovering from an injury. He had five dribbles completed in a mere 33 minutes to help turn the tide of the game at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano against Real Valladolid.

Then that next Sunday at Levante, Asensio drew four fouls, won two dribbles, and weaved three key passes for his teammates. Asensio was one of the most consistent players for Real Madrid in that game, and his all-around game continues to impress. He brings a lot more to the table than creativity and goal-scoring upside. Asensio’s all-around game on the right wing keeps on getting better and better.
