Real Madrid haven’t been at their best this season, but they showed how good they can be in El Clasico. Who have been their top performers so far?

As Real Madrid prepare to face Borussia Monchengladbach in their second Champions League fixture of 2020-2021 after last week’s loss to Shakhtar Donetsk, it’s time to take stock of how they’ve performed after six La Liga matches and that Champions League appearance.

Let’s start by taking a look at the top three players of the season thus far.

Real Madrid GK Thibaut Courtois

Real Madrid have arguably the most in-form goalkeeper in the world of 2020 in Thibaut Courtois. His great run of form started last Fall after he rebounded from a tough day against Club Brugge. Courtois has been exemplary since then, leading La Liga in clean sheet percentage and save percentage en route to the coveted Zamora Trophy last season. Winning the award over Jan Oblak and Marc-Andre ter Stegen is a huge highlight.

This season, Courtois has come up big time after time for Real Madrid, keeping them in games throughout the season. Even when Real fall short, such as against Shakhtar, Courtois manages to come through with impressive one-on-one stops.

Courtois has a clean sheet in half of his appearances in La Liga this season and has saved 82.6 percent of the shots he’s faced, per FBRef.com.
