Real Madrid need to get back to winning ways.

Real Madrid prepare to take on Huesca in La Liga only a few days after yet another disappointing result saw them end the UEFA Champions League match against Borussia Monchengladbach with only a point.

Goalkeeper

As always, he has continued to be the man that saves us and has kept being consistent throughout the season. Thibaut Courtois will be the man between the sticks on the night and he’ll be there with the same hope that we all have: Can the defending improve this time?

The Belgian goalkeeper has been fantastic so far in the campaign and continues to show that the club made the right decision when they brought him in for Chelsea and when he was officially picked as the number one goalkeeper over Keylor Navas, who cannot and will not be forgotten for everything he helped us achieve.

Defenders

It seems as though we may expect to see Lucas Vazquez on the right once again. Eder Militao could play there but he hasn’t impressed so far this season and even though Vazquez isn’t a natural right-back, he has proven that he can get the job done most of the time. Nacho Fernandez was the latest addition to Real Madrid’s right-back injury list and that leaves Zidane with very limited options. Raphael Varane will want to put some poor performances behind him but can we expect the unexpected from Zidane?

I think we could potentially see Eder Militao start ahead of the Frenchman in order to give him some rest in hopes that he’s back to his best by Tuesday when Real Madrid take on Inter Milan. Besides Militao will be our captain Sergio Ramos as his presence alone brings calm to the team. On the left, the return of Marcelo as he’ll aim to do a lot better than he has been this season. Mendy needs to be rotated in order to not get too tired and games like the one against Huesca should be good for Marcelo to show that he still has what it takes.

Midfielders

During the game against Borussia Monchengladbach, Carlos Casemiro highly impressed and he will be expected to take his place in the starting lineup once again. Luka Modric may be in front of him after two incredible performances off the bench. There could be an argument made for using Modric as a “super-sub” for the majority of the season, which seems to be where Zidane is headed. However, he still deserves to start some matches and may do so on Saturday afternoon. Toni Kroos will be the final man in that midfield.

A return to Real Madrid’s starting lineup for Eden Hazard?

Forwards

Could things get a little interesting here? Marco Asensio started both games over the past week and he could be given some rest with Rodrygo Goes in the starting lineup. Could Zidane aim to give Isco some minutes instead? On the left, it could be the full return of Eden Hazard after coming on as a substitute on Tuesday night. He probably won’t play the full 90 minutes but at least 45-60 may be a good target for the Belgian. Up front, Zidane won’t take any risks and will start his best striker which is Karim Benzema who will be hoping to add to his tally for the season.
