Real Madrid made a statement on Saturday afternoon, scoring four goals against Huesca in Eden Hazard’s first start of the 2020-2021 season.

Eden Hazard made his return from injury for Real Madrid on Tuesday in the Champions League, helping Los Blancos come from behind to salvage a point against Borussia Monchengladbach. He and the team were even better on Saturday against Huesca, making it two straight big wins in La Liga with a 4-1 victory against the newly-promoted side.

Here are five burning questions for Real Madrid after the win, which puts them firmly in control with eight points separating them from rivals Barcelona.

Can Karim Benzema keep producing like this with Eden Hazard in the lineup?

Karim Benzema received a lot of criticism from fans for a slow start to the season, as he wasn’t leading the team in goals and had wasted some great chances in league play to add to his tally.

But on Saturday against Huesca, Benzema was clinical. He bagged his first brace of the season, finishing his first with aplomb after some trademark chest control.

The 32-year-old striker is fully expected to lead Los Blancos in goals again this season, because Real rely on him so much from an attacking perspective. He is the clear goal-scoring threat, but he’s also key to the team’s creativity and chance-creation.

Benzema was at his best last season with a healthy Eden Hazard, so it was not surprising to see his brace came in Hazard’s first start. He gets more space and looks more confidence with his movement when Hazard is available, because Hazard can make the decisions and direct attacks on the ball to allow Benz to focus a little more on his scoring.

If Benzema can keep bringing home the goals with Hazard in the starting XI, then Real Madrid will be well on their way to winning the league. Their connection is that important and that unstoppable.
