Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund enjoy a great relationship, but that won’t be the only thing that could help Los Blancos sign one of their top transfer targets.

Next summer, Real Madrid will go hard after Kylian Mbappe as their top transfer target, knowing that he is a superstar player who can change the face of the organization. And they need Mbappe’s goal-scoring ability and all that he brings.

Mbappe isn’t the only young forward Real Madrid desire to greatly improve their attack. Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland is an even younger player and more prolific finisher, even if he isn’t quite the all-around talent. Haaland is a game-changer in his own right.

There’s been a lot of dispute about Haaland’s 75 million euro release clause that activates in 2022, because it might be more of a verbal agreement than an official release clause.

Marco Ruiz of AS reports that Erling Haaland’s superagent Mino Raiola signed a “secret pact” with Dortmund when BVB acquired the Norway international from RB Salzburg last winter.

Dortmund and Mino Raiola have a ‘verbal agreement’ to sell Erling Haaland in 2022

AS reports that Dortmund and Raiola made a “verbal agreement” with nothing officially signed that BVB would “facilitate” Haaland’s sale in 2022 to a bigger club. Ruiz writes that this is the reason why the Black and Yellows got the striker so cheaply. Haaland signed with Dortmund ahead of interest from other clubs, namely Manchester United and Juventus.

That “secret pact” could be huge for Real Madrid and would enable Los Blancos to sign Haaland at a huge bargain price in 2022. By then, Haaland will be even better and may even be the world’s most prolific goal-scorer, judging by his trajectory. And his all-around game keeps getting better and better; he is an underrated passer within the penalty box, notching two assists in the Bundesliga thus far.

Raiola said this summer that he wanted to bring a “great player” to Los Blancos. Many fans assumed he was talking about Paul Pogba, but perhaps he was hinting at a future transfer between Dortmund and Real for Haaland.

Either way, Los Merengues look to be in a good position to sign an out-and-out No. 9 who already has nine goals in all competitions. Haaland is as consistent as they come in front of goal despite being just 20 years old. Real need that badly.
