Karim Benzema opened the scoring for Real Madrid at the Mestalla on Matchday 9 with a wonderful strike from the edge of the box.

Although Eden Hazard was unable to play on Sunday due to COVID-19, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema continued his amazing form that began when Hazard returned to the pitch last week in the Champions League at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Benzema scored a goal in the comeback against Gladbach, a brace against Huesca last weekend in Hazard’s first start, and a goal after an Achraf Hakimi mistake in the 3-2 win over Inter Milan.

And on La Liga’s Matchday 9, the Real Madrid No. 9 scored his fourth goal of the 2020-2021 league campaign in the 23rd minute to give Los Blancos an early lead at the Mestalla.

Here’s a video of the goal, courtesy of beIN SPORTS USA:

Karim Benzema is in wonderful form for Real Madrid

That is a wonderful goal from a wonderful player.

Karim Benzema was under scrutiny to start the season, as he scored just one goal in his first six La Liga games. But lately, Benzema is one of the most in-form players in the league, and this goal against Valencia is a prime example of what he can do.

What a rocket. Benzema steadied himself just outside the box, saw exactly where he wanted to place it in the far right corner, and unleashed an accurate strike close to the postage stamp.

It doesn’t get much better than that.

Benzema now has five goals and two assists in his last five games. He’s had quite the response since Real’s losses to Cadiz and Shakhtar Donetsk, and it’s been wonderful to see Benzema show up as a leader and goal-scorer for the team.

Last season, Benzema carried the attack as the highest goal-scorer and assist-provider. He is getting back to his best this season now, and that’s an extremely exciting situation for Real Madrid fans indeed.
