The final player to watch is a man who can make Raphael Varane’s job a little easier on that right side against the fluid duo of Lautaro and Lukaku.

Dani Carvajal’s return against Villarreal was a welcome sight, and it was only fitting that the all-important right back had the decisive assist in the second minute with his inch-perfect cross for Mariano Diaz.

He is one of the best fullbacks around at delivering a precise final ball, and good things happen when he can push up the pitch. That’s why Zinedine Zidane encourages Carvajal to get high and attack, as he also know that one of the world’s fastest-thinking and fastest-moving center backs can cover for him in Varane.

Carvajal can have a field day against Inter’s defense, because he will have Ashley Young lining up across from him. For Carvajal, the key will be getting in more deliveries to Mariano and making sure he provides a couple of can’t-miss chances in what could be another frenetic match.

He must also balance his defensive duties, since Inter have the tactical intelligence both in their manager and players on the pitch to make him pay if he is out of position. Lukaku, in particular, is like a coach on the field whose impact on Inter goes beyond numbers. Carvajal must make sure he and his right winger are on the same page, as Inter have experienced players on the left-hand side.
