Real Madrid have confirmed that Dani Carvajal has suffered a muscle injury to his right adductor.
Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal, who recently came back from a near two-month injury layoff, has suffered yet another injury that will keep him out of action for another bunch of games.
This is the statement on the club’s official website:
"“Following tests carried out today on Dani Carvajal by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to his right adductor brevis. His recovery will continue to be monitored.”"
The club, as usual, did not specify the length of the time period that Carvajal will be out for, but as per Jose Luis Sanchez, one of the club’s most trusted sources, the degree of the injury is not that severe, although he will miss around two weeks of action.
These are the games in this two week span: Alaves, Borussia Monchengladbach, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk.
The goal for Real Madrid’s medical staff is to make sure that the Spaniard returns in time for the derby against Atletico Madrid, on December 12, but even that is looking unlikely, at the moment.
This is yet another blow to Zinedine Zidane’s men who were finally looking stable at that right back spot with a proper full-back playing the role. Now, after two games, Real Madrid find themselves to be without a right back again. Nacho Fernandez or Lucas Vazquez will be relied upon to play in that position, since Alvaro Odriozola still hasn’t returned from his injury from the start of October.
The onus is back on the team’s makeshift right-backs. The month of December is crucial for Real Madrid, especially in the league. They will have to show up, if Real Madrid are to win these games. The depth of the squad is truly being tested now.
