Real Madrid could not even get a point against Deportivo Alaves at home, shocking the fans watching at home.

Just days after their most comprehensive win at the season, a 2-0 victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League at the San Siro no less, Real Madrid suffered their fourth embarrassing loss of the season. They went down 1-0 early to Deportivo Alaves after a penalty, surrendered a second goal from an individual mistake, and then could only pull back a tap in before whimpering 2-1.

It was a horrendous display from Real Madrid, joining losses to Cadiz, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Valencia as huge low points for Zinedine Zidane’s squad in the 2020-2021 La Liga and Champions League campaigns.

Madridistas can scarcely fathom how Real can look like one of the better teams in Europe at mid-week to a team not even in the title race in La Liga over the weekend. Whereas Atletico Madrid got the job done in a tough match against Valencia, Los Blancos struggled against an easier opponent in Alaves. Earlier this season, we saw Barcelona draw with Alaves despite thoroughly outplaying them. Los Blancos, on the other hand, were terrible.

Injuries hurt the team in this game, but there can be no excuses. Real were poor. Here are five burning questions for the team to answer before their next game against Shakhtar.
