Tottenham ST Harry Kane

Do I think Harry Kane will move from Tottenham next summer? No. And do I think Real Madrid will be able to afford him? No, especially if they want to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG.

But do I think Kane is a player for Real Madrid fans to keep in mind as a possible target for Los Merengues? Yes. Yes, I do.

Kane has proved me wrong, big-time. I didn’t think he would return to form as one of the world’s best strikers, but Jose Mourinho has unleashed maybe the best version of Kane we’ve seen in his career. I say “maybe, only because the version of Kane we saw in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 was pretty damn ridiculous.

But this Kane? He is the best striker in the world right now, even beyond Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski. The 1-2 punch Mourinho has found in Son Heung-min and Kane is absolutely astonishing.

Kane has surpassed Karim Benzema as the most well-rounded No. 9 in world football. His vision and passing accuracy are like that of a No. 10. Watching Kane play is like watching David Silva and Sergio Aguero combined into one player. He is devastating. The man has seven goals and nine assists this season. Kane has almost double Benema’s league goals and triple his assists in the league. Who can touch him?

If Real Madrid cannot sign Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe, they may need to make a drastic move. Signing Kane is a drastic move, no doubt. I would much rather focus on the future and sign Haaland, but what if Florentino Perez is feeling the pressure of dried-up goals in the form of the safety of his own presidency? That’s not an impossible scenario.

Haaland should be preferred at striker, but Kane was strongly linked to Real Madrid before the 2020-2021 season. Madridistas must keep his name in mind as a possible Galactico for the 2021-2022 campaign.
