Real Madrid have been dealt a fatal blow in their chase to sign one of the world’s most promising talents as Jonathan Barnett gets hold of the player

Jonathan Barnett and Gareth Bale had stirred up a lot of controversy and drama at Real Madrid over the last two years. The Welsh winger’s career had plummeted in the 2019/20 season after falling out Zinedine Zidane who publicly stated that the departure of Bale would benefit all parties.

The French manager’s wish was eventually fulfilled however after a season. Real Madrid had reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur over the transfer of Gareth Bale on a season-long loan in the summer of 2019. Before Bale had vacated Madrid, his agent, Jonathan Barnett had made a strong statement regarding the way his client was treated by the club and its fans.

"“Real Madrid should be kissing the floor that he walks on given all he’s achieved in seven years,” Barnett exclaimed. I think for someone who has done as well and as great as he has for Real Madrid, I don’t think he got the respect he deserved. I think that was big problem.”"

Well, with Bale gone, many believed that the club will not have to deal with Barnett and the Welshman for another season, however, reports from AS now officially confirm that Jonathan Barnett has snatched up Eduardo Camavinga as his client.

The sports agent has added the talented French midfielder to his list of high clientele profile. Camavinga has been on the radar of Los Blancos for quite a while and Zidane believes that the 18-year-old will be an ideal recruitment for the future and to act as a backup for Casemiro.

However, since Camavinga has signed a deal with Barnett this could potentially hamper negotiations with Real Madrid. Reports from France state that the agent wants the midfielder to sign for the Premier League instead, meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain have also shown a great deal of interest in the young midfielder.

This indeed seems to be a complicated situation for Real given the poor relationship that the club has developed with Gareth Bale’s agent over the last few years. What is your opinion on this whole situation? Will Los Blancos still manage to get their prime target or will the Premier League or PSG steal the talented midfielder?
