Fabrizio Romano provides clarity on Ramos and Zidane futures at Real Madrid
Football’s most reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has now opened upon the futures of two of the most influential figures at Real Madrid.
Sergio Ramos and Zinedine Zidane, both have unclear futures at Real Madrid, although for different reasons. While the captain’s contract will expire at the end of the ongoing campaign, the coach is under tremendous pressure as a result of poor performances in the Champions League and La Liga, thus, facing the sack.
A lot has been made about both the club legends’ futures, but the most reliable football transfer expert in the world, Fabrizio Romano, has now made revelations about the duo’s futures in his column on CBS Sports. The news provided by him is surely leaving but conditional as well to a major occurrence at the club.
Fabrizio Romano has said that Sergio Ramos is in talks over his contract directly with the club’s president Florentino Perez. He currently earns 12 million euros and is thought to be the side’s highest-paid player but in the midst of the global pandemic, the negotiations are a bit trick to find a mutually beneficial conclusion upon.
Ramos wants to captain the Merengues at the new Santiago Bernabeu Stadium which is under construction and subsequently retire at the club he has called home for over a decade. The captain is comfortable to play whilst earning his existing salary and there seems to be a deadlock only on the number of years the contract will be extended by.
While both parties are optimistic about an agreement, it is thought that Zinedine Zidane’s continuity at the Bernabeu may have a significant impact on the Spaniard’s future. Ramos has always backed Zidane at the club and it’s no secret that the entire squad fights for him and more often than not, gets a result, out of love for the manager.
In truth, Zidane is under pressure heading into the fixtures versus Borussia Monchengladbach and Atletico Madrid next week, so it will be interesting to see whether the Frenchman can come out unscarred. It remains to be seen whether Ramos will look at who replaces Zidane, but the current coach’s departure may determine his future.
On a scale of 1-10, how likely would you rate the prospects of both, Ramos and Zizou, staying?
