Barcelona have made some hysterical decisions in the last few years and their most hysterical one could be capitalized upon by Real Madrid.

Real Madrid lead Barcelona in La Liga by six points and certainly lack in terms of squad quality if league standings are any landmark to go by. The Whites had an incredible transfer summer in 2019, and that, coupled with a world-class squad already existing drove them a mile above their arch-rivals who are facing worries of their own.

Barcelona are financially tight and have been unable to fulfil signings wanted by a couple of their managers. What’s worse is the fact that some of their most expensive signings have failed to deliver despite being tipped to replace Neymar back in 2017. Ousmane Dembele has been one of them whose fitness woes need no second introduction.

Javier Bordas, the Barca director who formed a part of Josep Maria Bartomeu’s board, has now made a stunning revelation that truly justifies the former board’s downfall. He claimed that the Blaugrana had a chance to sign the former Monaco forward back in 2017 for just 100 million euros, but passed upon his signing for Dembele’s, as per Goal.

“The explanation was that Mbappe plays for himself and Dembele plays for the team, and since a winger like Ney had left, Robert preferred a winger more than a finisher.”

Kylian Mbappe has now been strongly linked with Real Madrid and it looks more likely than not that the Merengues will complete his signing in June 2021. With Lionel Messi now being linked with Paris Saint-Germain, the Frenchman may decide against renewing his contract and perhaps out of affordability, PSG might not expedite the spoken agenda either.

As arch-rivals, every Real Madrid fan has found a bit of banter in the way Barca has been run and when it will imminently favour their beloved club- it will be all the more reason for joy. Mbappe will be a long-term investment from the Whites and it is expected that he will be around at the Santiago Bernabeu for perhaps as long as Cristiano Ronaldo, at least.

For a player who has turned up on big occasions, El Clasicos will certainly be an enticing affair and if the France international can break a few hearts from the Camp Nou fanbase, it will no doubt raise the comments made by Bordas once again. While Barca fans will continue to fume with their former board, Real’s will rejoice the good days.
