Luis Suarez’s first match with Atleti against Real Madrid

Luis Suarez gave Real Madrid a hard time as Barcelona’s superstar striker, especially when La Blaugrana had both Lionel Messi and Neymar flanking him.

The Uruguayan is still one of the most feared strikers in La Liga, having joined Atletico Madrid this summer after Barcelona wisely decided to part ways to get younger at the position. Suarez has been a great fit with Los Rojiblancos, getting his career back on track and showing Spanish football fans that he still has something left in the tank.

So far this season, Suarez is tied for the team lead with five goals, and he could very well add to his tally on Matchday 13 at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

The battle between Raphael Varane and Suarez will be entertaining to watch. Ever the wily veteran, Suarez, in addition to his lethal finishing, has his bag of tricks to find the space he needs to deliver those devastating finishes.

Suarez is a familiar foe to Real, but he’s not familiar in a kind way. He is a man used to punishing Real Madrid, and he will enjoy the physicality of El Derbi, that’s for sure. All Suarez needs is a half-chance to find the back of the net, and Zinedine Zidane’s men are well-aware of the threat he carries. This could be an entertaining chess match on Saturday night.
