Just days after dominating Borussia Monchengladbach in a critical Champions League fixture, Real Madrid did the same to La Liga’s most in-form side.

Coming into La Liga’s Matchday 13, Atletico Madrid were the league leaders and had only given up two goals. But on Saturday night at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, Real Madrid still stuck two goals past Atleti en route to a second straight 2-0 win and a third straight clean sheet after their second horrific loss to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Madridistas were concerned about Los Blancos’ ability to compete in any competition this season following those losses to Deportivo Alaves and Shakhtar. Real looked lost in attack and vulnerable in defense. And for the first time, Zinedine Zidane felt his job under REAL pressure as Los Blancos faced an unthinkable drop down to the Europa League.

However, Real turned it around at Gladbach, and they proved the narrow win over Sevilla and the victory over the Foals were no flukes by drubbing their crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid.

Let’s take a look at three takeaways from another marvelous performance from Los Merengues, who have closed the gap on Atleti in the table. They are still behind Los Rojiblancos, but this was absolutely a statement win.
