Erling Haaland is now closer than ever to signing for Real Madrid

Real Madrid are keen on landing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and latest developments suggest he may move as early as next summer.

Real Madrid have been looking to add firepower to their attack and the name of Erling Haaland has resonated in the club’s offices. The 20-year-old has been flying lately with numerous goals to his names and some of the best clubs across Europe have vested interest in the Norwegian prodigy, whose exploits in the last year and a half have made him famous.

According to OK Diario, Erling Haaland now seems to be closer than ever to joining Real Madrid after Borussia Dortmund relieved head coach Lucien Favre of his duties on Sunday. The Bundesliga giants were handed a 5-1 defeat by Stuttgart on Saturday and since the side was placed fifth at the end of the weekend, Dortmund decided to take a drastic step.

Haaland is believed to have had a very cordial relationship with the former Nice coach, who is known to be kind on youngsters and getting the best out of them. Moreover, with the Frenchman at the helm, there was a sense that Borussia Dortmund did have a sporting project that was in execution which is one of the main reasons why Haaland signed during the January transfer window.

For the time being, BVB have decided to keep an interim manager until the end of the season which thereby means that the club will appoint a long-term successor only in the summer and set fresher agendas. With Mino Raiola commenting that his client is very ambitious, waiting on a stagnant outline simply does not make sense.

Real Madrid can take full advantage of the situation and in all likelihood will be able to secure their man for as less as 75 million euros- which is a very reasonable amount in today’s inflated market and all the more so for a player like Haaland. The club can certainly afford him alongside some other targets, and it will be exciting to see how the task is approached.
