Real Madrid could see their transfer fate decided in accordance with what their former player Cristiano Ronaldo decides to do with his future.

Real Madrid are expected to have a productive transfer window next year as they eye some big signings in 2021. Among those is Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, whose agent stated that the Frenchman will not stay at the club for longer than June 2022 in a very candid interview recently. Besides Madrid, Juventus are also interested.

While Los Blancos’ interest is a simply a manifestation of that of Zinedine Zidane, the coach is capable of single-handedly convincing the board as well as the player to join. On the flipside, the Bianconeri are seriously considering a return for their record sale as their midfield has looked extremely substandard in recent years.

Having said that, Cristiano Ronaldo of all people could play a significant role in determining whether or not Madrid complete the transfer, if at all. Daily Mail has claimed that the Italian giants are so desperate to bring back the World Cup winner that they are even willing to sacrifice the world’s greatest player in a swap deal with the Premier League side.

Cristiano Ronaldo earns 30 million euros at the Allianz Stadium and the substantially high wage share that he occupies has had a significant impact on the club’s financial structure. Due to the wages plus bonuses owed to the 35-year-old, Juve have been unable to complete some other signings and are also one of the worst affected clubs by the pandemic.

Manchester United will openly welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo, but the interest to reunite has to be mutual and perhaps, the Portugal international may not opt in favour of a second stint at the Old Trafford. One of the best players of all-time, who is in the final few years of his career would certainly not want to join a club that is struggling in all departments.

Juventus are unlikely to afford a possible deal for Paul Pogba with Ronaldo on their payroll at the same time and therefore, it looks very unlikely that the Frenchman will join the Turin-based outfit. This could possibly give Real Madrid a crystal-clear chance at landing their primary target, but even they must not bring him in.

Firstly, he is going to be worth exorbitant money and secondly, he is already 27 and struggling with fitness worries. What’s more important is that Zinedine Zidane continuing at the club is not guaranteed and if Pogba does sign in the presence of a different coach, the tables could turn upside down for the worse since young players are knocking for chances too.
