Real Madrid picked up all three points again on Tuesday night, defeating Athletic Club 3-1 at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

Since losing to Shakhtar Donetsk for a second time, Real Madrid are undefeated. Los Blancos outfought Sevilla 1-0, dominated Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0 in a vital Champions League match, and thoroughly outclassed Atletico Madrid over the weekend with a 2-0 win in El Derbi.

And this Tuesday night at the Estadio Alfred Di Stefano, Los Merengues did not suffer a letdown performance against a notoriously difficult Athletic Club side, who have one of La Liga’s most fearsome back fours and the excellent Inaki Williams leading the attack.

Toni Kroos scored one of Real’s best goals of the season from outside the box to give them a first-half lead just before stoppage time closed. Karim Benzema added another in the second half to break a 1-1 draw after Sergio Ramos’ positioning error, and then he sealed the game at 3-1 in the final minutes after a crucial save from Thibaut Courtois.

As 2020 winds down, Real Madrid seem to be fully back at their best after a rough patch of matches. Here are three takeaways from another quality victory in La Liga vs. Athletic Club before Sunday night’s road game against Eibar.
