Will Dani Carvajal get more mainstream love again?

Trent Alexander-Arnold creates like no other right back in the world, but when it comes to experience and all-around ability, Dani Carvajal is still the measuring stick at the position. It’s just that the Real Madrid man doesn’t seem to get as much love as he used to among fans for his place as one of the elite fullbacks.

Hopefully that changes soon. Carvajal was solid in 2019-2020 despite a couple of mistakes that were magnified, such as the first leg performance vs. Manchester City. In 2020-2021, when he has been healthy, we’ve seen the absolute best of Carvajal.

After a dominant performance last week against Gladbach, Carvajal was brilliant vs. Atelti and quietly brilliant this Tuesday night against Athletic Club. Carvajal had three interceptions and three dribbles completed with nearly 90 percent of his passes completed.

The star right back has been robbed of a few great games due to injury, but he is more than making up for it when on the pitch. His resume is outstanding, and he’s been one of Real Madrid’s top performers in the last three games. Even if the mainstream crowd doesn’t get with the program, Madridistas won’t take Carvajal for granted again. He continues to add to his legacy in Madrid with each quality week.
