Real Madrid had a terrific transfer window in 2019 and are looking to emulate similar successes in 2021 with several signings being vectored on the radar.

Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo departed Real Madrid, Karim Benzema has taken responsibility of scoring the goals upon himself and it’s fair to say that he has been incredibly successful in that regard. However, the Frenchman’s lack of presence in the box has been a worrying situation at times as have his inconsistent spells at times.

On Saturday, Benzema will turn 33 and hence, it is imperative that Los Blancos sign a worthy enough replacement for him all things considered. By the looks of it, it is looking likely that the striker will be able to succeed at the top level for at least another season but Los Blancos are still keeping tabs on Erling Haaland as a choice.

Haaland is perhaps the best and most potent goal-scorer in the top five European leagues right now and the Norwegian has even proven his credentials in the Champions League. Among several stellar performances, his double against Paris Saint-Germain in a 2-1 success for Borussia Dortmund stands out from last season.

Real Madrid are monitoring his price which is though to be just 75 million euros and are pondering over a move for him next year. The Whites are keen on bringing in firepower to their attack and believe the striker’s signing can be done hand-in-hand with that of Kylian Mbappe in the upcoming summer transfer period itself.

Despite being able to comfortably afford Haaland, the side’s major stumbling comes in the shape of an unlikely figure- Karim Benzema. The Frenchman’s place in the starting line-up is indispensable and he has dethroned the likes of Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain in the past and Luka Jovic as well as Mariano Diaz right now.

Erling Haaland has not made any demand as such from the Merengues or any other of his suitors but at the very least, he will be looking for a starting berth. With what Benzema adds to the side in terms of gameplay apart from scoring goals, it is difficult to see why he may be benched but it could be a significant blow to the Haaland operation.

Do you think Haaland will be signed by Madrid even though they can’t offer him a starting role right from the off?
