Jose Mourinho has reportedly contacted the best Real Madrid player to join Tottenham Hotspur. The player in question is Luka Modric of Croatia.
In the summer of 2012, Jose Mourinho urged Real Madrid to sign Luka Modric of Tottenham Hotspur. The Croatian midfielder was a growing figure in the Premier League which promoted Mourinho’s decision to sign the player.
Luka Modric was signed for 30 million pounds and the rest is history. Although the former Spurs midfielder struggled in his new environment initially and was even called the worst signing of the season by Marca. The following season under Carlo Ancelotti marked the beginning of Modric’s indispensable role in the starting eleven.
Since then, the Croatian midfielder has gone on to win two La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles for Los Blancos while being the brain and heart of the midfield engine room. Fast forward to today, at the age of 35, Modric still remains one of the world’s best players and is currently the best performer at Real despite his age.
However, the 35-year-old’s contract expires next summer which means that Modric can negotiate a deal legally with clubs outside of Spain from January onwards. Even at 35, the midfielder continues to dominate and dictate the game for Real Madrid despite catching up with age. Modric certainly deserves a contract extension since he clearly has a season or two under his belt to continue at the highest level possible.
A report from OK Diaro states that Jose Mourinho has contacted the player over a potential return to Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs under Mourinho seems like a new side as the north London team has been revitalised into Premier League title contenders under the former Real Madrid coach.
The Lilywhites are considering the option of signing Modric next season on a free transfer provided Los Blancos do not renew terms with the midfielder. As of now, there have been no reports or progression in the contract renewal talks of Modric, Sergio Ramos, and Lucas Vazquez.
