Real Madrid were fantastic in the first half, going up 2-0 in the first 13 minutes against Eibar.

Real Madrid stars Luka Modric and Karim Benzema were absolutely brilliant in the first half against Eibar, as has the whole team. Benzema scored a great goal, following a sensational pass from Rodrygo. He turned provider when he saw Luka Modric chilling on the edge of the box. Real Madrid were leading 2-0 before the 15th-minute mark, something that hasn’t happened quite often this season.

Following some brilliant press and defensive work from Vazquez and Benzema, Real Madrid won the ball on the right side in Eibar’s box.

After that, Benzema had some brilliant footwork to get past his marker,  and when his angle started to look a little tight, he saw Luka Modric completely open on the edge of the box, and he passed it to the Croatian. The mastermind, who, by the way, has been nothing short of excellent today, took the shot first time, into the roof of the net:

Even if the goal came in on the 13th minute, this goal should be enough to cap off what can be a remarkable performance from the 35-year-old. This guy just doesn’t age. He has been working so hard this season. He has played the most minutes in the league, and has been involved in a number of consecutive games. To still play the way he is playing, it’s iconic, really.

This was Luka Modric’s second goal of the season so far, and Karim Benzema got his fourth assist of the season. He also has scored seven goals this term.

Luka Modric nearly got another assist when he played a scintillating ball over Eibar’s defense to Karim Benzema, who missed an open header from very close range.

Ever since Modric’s goal, though, Eibar grew into the game and were playing well. Their high press was certainly causing problems at some points of the game.

Kike Garcia pulled one back for Eibar, and it was honestly one of the best goals so far in La Liga.

There was another beautiful goal in the 36th minute, where Benzema received a great pass from Kroos and seemingly scored the goal, but was ruled offside.
