Real Madrid put on one of the best first-half display of football we have seen in La Liga this season to win 1-3 away at Eibar.

Real Madrid traveled to Ipura and put on a brilliant performance away from home to win 1-3 against Eibar. Goals from Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, and Lucas Vazquez sealed the deal for Zinedine Zidane’s men. Los Blancos started bright and intense, creating chance after chance in the first 30 minutes, and went two goals up. Kike halved the difference for the home team with a stunning curler past Thibaut Courtois before the break.

In the second half, Real Madrid continued to create chances as Eibar came out strongly as they looked for an equalizer. Lucas Vazquez put the game to bed with a fine finish in the 90th minute.

Here is how the Real Madrid players performed.

Manager

Zinedine Zidane – 8/10

Zidane has trusted his core group of players to get the job done, and Eibar was no different. His team looked prepared to take on Eibar’s press, and they were scintillating in the first 30 minutes of the match.

Zidane’s men could have been three or four goals up by the time Kike scored an absolute stunner. Zidane has steered the ship out of the storm and heading in the right direction.

Players

Thibaut Courtois – 7.5/10

Courtois, as usual, looked comfortable commanding his area and made a couple of good saves. There was nothing he could have done to prevent the brilliant curler from Kike.

Dani Carvajal – 7.5/10

Dani Carvajal had an astute defensive shift, but his final ball in the attacking third lacked precision against Eibar. According to Whoscored.com, he won three tackles, three interceptions, and two aerial duels.

Sergio Ramos – 7.5/10

Eibar did not make it easy for Real Madrid’s center-backs, but the experienced Los Blancos duo mitigated the troubles and came out on top. El Capitan did not have a perfect match, but he was clutch late in the game with a goal-saving tackle. He also won three aerial duels and completed five clearances.

Raphael Varane – 7/10

Varane had a couple of missteps in the match similar to Ramos but did mostly well against Eibar’s pressure. He had a game-high six clearances and won three aerial duels.

Ferland Mendy – 7.5/10

Mendy had another comfortable shift on the defensive end as he won five ground duels and completed two clearances, per Sofascore.com. He also looked good in the attacking half with some good decision-making and dangerous final balls, which unfortunately did not see the back of the net.

Casemiro – 7.5/10

Casemiro looks to be slowly getting back into form. His positioning was impeccable, often slotting himself into the right positions to shield his defense. He won two aerial duels, completed two interceptions and one clearance.

Luka Modric – 8.5/10

It was another man of the match performance from the Croatian captain. Luka Modric put a clinic on running circles around his markers, completing four dribbles along with some lovely passing. He also scored Real Madrid’s second goal with a fantastic strike from the top of the box.

Toni Kroos – 8/10

Toni Kroos is the best at what he does. He once again made passing look easy with pinpoint passing to create goal-scoring opportunities for Benzema and Rodrygo. He completed 90 percent of his 86 passes.

Lucas Vazquez – 8/10

Lucas Vazquez continued to give it his all for Zidane and showing the world why Los Blancos manager prefers to start him over others. The Spaniard once again ran himself into the ground. He got his reward in the dying minutes of the match as he sent Real Madrid 3-1 up.

Rodrygo – 7.5/10

Rodrygo sent a fantastic ball over the top to send Benzema clear for the Real Madrid opener. The Brazillian also looked confident taking on his players with three completed dribbles and often made some brilliant runs to get himself open.

He will be disappointed not to get a goal when he got through one on one against the goalkeeper.

Karim Benzema – 9/10

Karim Benzema was on fire against Eibar. He opened the scoring for Real Madrid with a brilliantly taken goal. His first touch throughout the game was on point, and his movement into spaces caused Eibar problems for the majority of the match.

The Frenchman did a wonderful job to get past the defender and set up Modric for the winner. He also sent Vazquez through for Los Blancos’ third goal.
