Real Madrid defeated Granada 2-0 at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano behind goals from Casemiro and Karim Benzema.

Before the players get a full week off over Christmas, Real Madrid made sure to head into the holiday on a happy note by winning their sixth straight match since the second debacle against Shakhtar Donetsk. They are firing on all cylinders, though this win was less pretty than the previous victories in the streak.

Granada brought their best to the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, as they had a great defensive gameplan. But they were unable to capitalize from the chances Raphael Varane and Co. gifted them. Real Madrid, meanwhile, found a way to sneak two past the visitors. Casemiro headed home Marco Asensio’s pinpoint cross and Karim Benzema scored yet another clutch late goal to seal a match, just as he did against the likes of Levante and Athletic Club this season.

Let’s take a look at three takeaways from an important clean sheet victory for Los Blancos. Every win matters, because Real are set to have a title race for the ages with Atletico Madrid, who still have plenty of space at the top after defeating fellow Champions League contenders Real Sociedad on Matchday 15.
