Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes was stretchered off in the first half against Granada.

Just when it seemed like Real Madrid‘s injury curse ended, Rodrygo Goes was stretchered off vs. Granada in what looked like a serious blow to his right hamstring. This is the worst way Rodrygo’s 2020 could have ended as he was starting to become a regular in the playing XI, starting his second consecutive game on his preferred left wing.

According to Spanish journalist Sergio Valentin, Rodrygo will be out for at least two weeks.

After the first few tests conducted by the doctors, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury on his right thigh, and further tests will be undergoing new tests in the next 48-72 hours.

This comes as very bad news for the team and the player as he was looking bright in his recent display, assisting Karim Benzema’s first goal in the last match against Eibar. In this match, Rodrygo played around 37 minutes, creating 3 chances, completing 1 dribble, having 1 key pass, and completing 90% of his passes.

Before kickoff, Rodrygo was the only player in the squad to not be injured, but that sums up 2020 in a nutshell. It has unleashed its wrath on everyone.

Rodrygo was replaced by Marco Asensio in the 38th minute even though both Eden Hazard and Vinícius Júnior were on the bench. Hazard has just returned from injury so it was a sensible move from Zidane to not use him to replace the injured Rodrygo.

Let’s hope Rodrygo’s injury isn’t very serious and that he can return to pitch soon because he is an impactful player. We all know that this is going to be a very deep season due to a tight schedule, and given the injury crisis of Eden Hazard, the return of Rodrygo – as soon as it happens – would be a huge sigh of relief for both Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid fans.
