One of the free agents that Real Madrid are slated to sign during the upcoming months promises to be a magnificent arrival going forward.

Real Madrid are already in business despite the coronavirus pandemic as they continue to negotiate contracts with two of their best players, Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos. The club is also keen on holding onto Lucas Vazquez after his most recent performances, but recent developments have made the next few months all the more exciting for them.

David Alaba is now just one step away from joining the Whites from Bayern Munich and the ball seems to be in the Spanish side’s court now. With the Austrian set to leave the Allianz Arena as a free agent in the summer, there is not as much interest in him as earlier expected and only the Merengues are ready to take the advanced steps, Ok Diario claims.

Karl Heinz-Rummenigge also publicly spoke about how the player can begin negotiations with foreign clubs from January itself after the Bavarians have failed to reach a breakthrough. Speaking to the media, he said:

"He’s free to speak to whoever he wants from January 1."

While both, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain continue to be interested in bringing in the 2-time Champions League winner, their squads simply don’t permit for him to play regularly. The 28-year-old would, at the very least, want to be an important player which a rotational side like Real Madrid can provide to him on a consistent basis.

With Marcelo tipped to depart the Santiago Bernabeu, Alaba could be the perfect competitor to Ferland Mendy in the left-back’s role. Considering the incredible versatility he brings in, he can even fill-in at the heart of defence if one keeps in mind the fact that Eder Militao has seemed low in confidence. Finally, Alaba can also add set-piece prowess, which no player has.
