Barcelona and Real Madrid have always addressed controversial matters very differently and it has been no different when two club legends are at the helms.

Real Madrid are riding a five-match winning streak since last weekend as they overcame Eibar by a 3-1 margin at the Ipurua. While the Whites clearly dominated the match before killing it off in stoppage time, they did escape a controversial and nervy when the ball struck the elbow of Sergio Ramos and led to a penalty appeal.

Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman was quick to talk about it a day later as his side continue to chase a deficit in the La Liga standings. The Dutchman displayed his resentment at the latest decision and even after El Clasico, Koeman took to his official Twitter handle to slam a controversial penalty which twisted the tide in Madrid’s favour.

Zinedine Zidane was subsequently quizzed by Marca regarding his colleague’s comments and as he always does, the Frenchman refused to get into the argument and simply remained coy with his words.

"It bothers me because I never get involved with the referees. It’s a bit annoying talking about this."

Zizou’s comments make total sense and only go on to show the difference in class between Barca and Madrid. The Blaugrana, on multiple occasions, through former and current players have tried to claim an agenda favouring Real Madrid whenever they can. Koeman on this occasion is simply trying to hide his failures at the club.

Newly appointed as the Catalans’ head coach only in the summer, he has led them to their worst start in La Liga ever while also isolating some promising like Carles Alena and Riqui Puig. If his side were actually as good as he thinks, they would not need a penalty in their opponent’s game to reduce a landslide worth’s difference. What do you make of his words?
