Real Madrid: 5 burning questions from a 2-0 win over Granada
Real Madrid won their sixth game in a row, defeating Granada 2-0 at home before Christmas.
Los Merengues knew they were in for a tough match on Wednesday night at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano against Europa League side Granada. The visitors had golden opportunities to get an early lead but failed to capitalize, and Real Madrid ended up winning the game 2-0 after Karim Benzema sealed the deal with yet another late goal.
Here are five burning questions for Real as they get a week’s worth of rest before a Dec. 30 fixture against Elche.
How many more goals will Karim Benzema score?
Karim Benzema is in the thick of the Pichichi race once again, as Real Madrid continue to rely on their No. 9 to find the back of the net. The French striker has now scored in each of his last three games for a total of four goals and two assists, hitting a rich vein of form since his brace against Borussia Monchengladbach in that must-win game.
We can expect the Real Madrid star to continue his scoring form next week against Elche and beyond. Before his injury against Valencia at the Mestalla, Benzema was in great form, too, and he’s clearly back at that level. When Benzema is at his best, he is the world’s most complete No. 9, as he can do things from a chance-creation perspective that no other striker can. Benz showed glimpses of this vs. Granada, even if this wasn’t his most impressive match.
