Real Madrid shouldn’t make any sales in the winter transfer window, with the possible exception of Isco, but that doesn’t mean they won’t receive offers from other clubs.

Currently riding a six-game winning streak, Real Madrid have every reason to believe they can cover the points difference between themselves and crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid to win a 35th league title. After all, they destroyed Atleti 2-0 in the last Derbi.

In order to win the title and to finally meet expectations in the Champions League, Real Madrid will need all hands on deck. They most likely cannot make winter window signings, especially if they want to afford the best of the best in the summer 2021 market, so they must be careful which players they loan or sell.

Center back Eder Militao should be a player Real hold onto, as we saw how important he ended up being during last season’s title race with some big performance in the second-half of the season, specifically at San Mames against Athletic Bilbao.

That said, Todo Fichajes reports that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have interest in Militao, who could be an interesting addition to the Reds. Militao is an excellent passer, strong in the air, and once played well against Liverpool in a Champions League knockout tie while with FC Porto. (That was immediately before his big-money move to Real Madrid.)

Militao isn’t a starter for Los Blancos, and he hasn’t even played as often as Nacho Fernandez this season. But Militao can be the future of the position for Real. Considering they paid roughly 50 million euros to sign him and he hasn’t disappointed since, Los Blancos should set a high asking price for Liverpool, especially considering the value of such a player in the middle of a grueling season.

It’s hard to see Real Madrid selling Militao, and Liverpool probably won’t pay premium for him either. The likelihood of this deal happening is extremely low, but Militao is an intriguing fit for the Reds. So Madridistas should keep this rumor in the back of their minds as we head into the January transfer window, as it could be an unpredictable month.
