Real Madrid attacking midfielder Takefusa Kubo hasn’t played much for Villarreal in La Liga, so other Spanish clubs are circling.

Despite all the rumors indicating Villarreal may be open to terminating Takefusa Kubo‘s loan from Real Madrid, it’s still hard to believe that such a move will actually happen. Kubo may not be able to find the right opportunity elsewhere, as any interested club must be able to find a place for him.

That said, there are teams trying to acquire Kubo if the Yellow Submarine do indeed end the loan, perhaps to acquire additional midfield depth in their quest to earn Champions League qualification for the 2021-2022 campaign.

According to a report from Javier Hernandez of AS, there are three La Liga clubs who have asked Real Madrid about Kubo. Getafe is the most prominent one, and the report even states that they have received the “OK” from Real. The Madrid-based club is also interested in Barcelona’s Carlos Aleña on loan, as they are ambitious about improving the quality of their squad so they can qualify for European football.

The other two clubs interested are equally ambitious. Real Betis have tried to make moves for a Real Madrid player on loan, so maybe this is their chance to add Kubo. Though Kubo may also find it tough to crack Betis’ XI, even if they aren’t quite as competitive as Villarreal right now.

And then there is Real Sociedad, who were linked to both Reinier Jesus and Kubo earlier this year. Martin Odegaard flourished at Sociedad last season, but that was only after he spent years in the Netherlands. Like Villarreal, Sociedad are in the thick of the Champions League race, so Kubo could run into the same problems there. That said, Sociedad have shown more of a willingness to stick with younger players than Villarreal.

Kubo may have options. Whether or not those teams can accommodate him is another question entirely, and it may be a difficult puzzle to solve. But again, he has options. Of course, these options will only come to play if Villarreal, Real Madrid, and Kubo himself agree that a change is needed. Until then, everything is up in the air.
