Real Madrid need some more midfield depth, but which players should they look at signing?

Although Real Madrid have some of the best midfielders in the world, they have a bit of a depth problem. Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Casemiro remain at the top of their games, and Fede Valverde is arguably the most valuable center midfielder on this planet. In Martin Odegaard, Real have yet another future superstar, as he was one of La Liga’s top performers last season while on loan at Real Sociedad.

But beyond those five excellent players, there are question marks. Zinedine Zidane needs to have at least one more quality midfielder in order to feel good about the depth at the position. Dani Ceballos is on loan at Arsenal, but his uneven performances have made it clear that Los Blancos are better off looking elsewhere.

There are big names linked to Real, such as Paul Pogba, and there are lesser-known stars like Brighton’s Yves Bissouma who have been rumored as possible targets for Zidane.

Let’s take a look at five midfielders for Madridistas to watch for closely when we enter 2021, as one of these five players could help solve the depth question marks in the middle of the park for Los Merengues.
