What must Real Madrid do in order to win the La Liga title this season?

In 2019-2020, Zinedine Zidane guided Real Madrid to their 34th league title behind the best defense in Europe’s top five leagues.

Zidane knew that Los Blancos did not have the attacking firepower to play their usual football and win the league. Eden Hazard was struggling to stay healthy, and Real thus had to rely solely on Karim Benzema. Sergio Ramos’ goals were a big boost and Marco Asensio helped out in the summer, but Real still had to mostly lean on their defense.

In 2020-2021, the defense has shown some cracks, but Real Madrid still have the same starters who led the way the previous campaign. The midfield is actually playing at a higher level, and Real should feel confident about their chances of winning the league. Atletico Madrid have two games in hand on Real, but Los Merengues have managed to tie the team they defeated 2-0 on points.

Let’s take a look at the biggest keys for Real in order for them to win a 35th La Liga title. Real are in for a thrilling title race against their crosstown rivals, as Diego Simeone has Atletico Madrid playing much more efficient attacking football this season.
