Real Madrid will continue to look for galactic signings during 2021 as they steadily recover from the losses suffered during the coronavirus lockdown.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane took over at the club for a second time in 2019 and subsequently had a historic transfer window in the summer that year. The Frenchman oversaw the signings of Eden Hazard, Ferland Mendy and Luka Jovic, which were all players wanted by him. Unfortunately, 2020 shed water on any potential revamps.

Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the Whites decided against making any lucrative signings which included Kylian Mbappe, whose move to the Santiago Bernabeu has been postponed to at least 2021. Florentino Perez stated that it does not make ethical sense to be imposing a salary reduction on staff, whilst making big-money moves.

With Real Madrid slowly but steadily recovering from a financial calamity, they are starting to plan for how they will address the summer transfer window in 2021. There will not be any signing in January, but the off-season could be one with several revolutions, OK Diario says.

Despite being tipped to sign several players, Los Blancos remain hellbent on their priority- which is to tie Sergio Ramos down to an extension. The captain wants to stay and an agreement between all parties concerned only seems to be a matter of time.

After they receive clarity over Ramos’ future, the defending La Liga champions will look to land David Alaba. From several players on their wish-list, the Austrian’s acquisition seems easiest considering that they can sign him up this month itself. In addition to that, he will be a free agent and no club negotiations will need to be orchestrated.

Besides securing associations with two defensive players, the club remains aware of the fact that it needs to sign goal-scoring attackers. Real Madrid failed to score 100 goals in a season for the first time in 13 years in 2020, but they will be out to rectify that by targeting both, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe over summer transfers.

Paris Saint-Germain may be forced into selling Mbappe this summer as his contract expires in June next year. The French international reportedly has no interest in continuing in the Ligue 1 as he believes a dream move to Real Madrid would be more fitting. Regardless of the price, Perez wants to make this transfer and it may become a reality this year.

Haaland’s proposition will not be a very difficult task either as he is seemingly valued at just 75 million euros. Even without a financial turbulence, Madrid would easily afford to sign him and it remains to be seen whether they make the leap for the Norwegian too. Luka Jovic’s future at the club may play a significant role in influencing this switch.

To add the cherry onto the cake, Madrid will try to land Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes. Similar to his compatriot in Mbappe, Camavinga sees his contract with the club end next year, which means he may be an enforced sale and much-needed replacement for Casemiro at the White House of football.
