2021 could be the year of several Real Madrid signings but for the remainder of this season, Zidane must make do with his current squad but may phase out a few.

Real Madrid are riding their best streak of the season as they remain eight matches unbeaten in all competitions, winning seven in the process. Zinedine Zidane is no more a man under pressure as he seems to have finally found the formula to being successful. Unfortunately, some players have played more than the others but if that is the winning potion, one cannot question who he plays and who he does not.

Lucas Vazquez is the player who has started the most consecutive games this season, having featured in each of the last 16 from the first whistle, filling in at an impeded role of right back too. Raphael Varane meanwhile also matched a similar record, playing more minutes than any of his teammates during the 2020 calendar year. Here is a look at the three players who must be phased out for the remainder of the season, though.

ALVARO ODRIOZOLA

Alvaro Odriozola has made just one start in La Liga this season and even with Dani Carvajal being injured back in October, Lucas Vazquez was preferred to him. The former Real Sociedad full-back has a propensity of making extremely silly mistakes and is certainly not a player who has enough quality to feature for a club of the Real Madrid level.

Vazquez has proven to be a lot more reliable as the right-back and his recent performances have only gone on to show why Zizou has overlooked Odriozola so often. He went out on loan to Bayern Munich last winter, but this time around the club must think about permanently getting rid of him as he brings little to the squad.
