3 Real Madrid players Zidane must phase out to achieve success this season
ISCO
Isco was one of the best attacking midfielders in the world not too long ago, but he has not recovered from the tumultuous season that Los Merengues endured in 2018-19. In the 2019/20 campaign, it always looked as if he was living on borrowed time and in the ongoing campaign, his performances have only worsened by each passing day.
The Spaniard’s decline has been hurtful to watch but the club and coach have to make some difficult decisions and getting rid of Isco might be one that comes with its own fruit. The ex-Malaga midfielder may not leave the club this month given that there is not much time to land a replacement but a summer departure is already looking imminent.
MARCELO
Marcelo is a club legend without doubt but Ferland Mendy is head and shoulders above him right now. With David Alaba’s arrival, the Brazil international is likely to be pushed further down the pecking order and he cannot have too many complaints against it. After all, the statistics don’t lie and Real Madrid are yet to win a league game this season involving him.
Mendy on the other hand has not lost in 30 attempts as a league starter for the Whites, which only goes on to show the gulf in quality between the two full backs. Marcelo will be profoundly missed in the event that he is sold and this is certainly not the end he deserves, but at the end of the day he is not even adding much to the side which weakens his case.
